Bantwal, KARNATAKA :
Bantwal:
In the Bantwal Municipality elections held today, Congress’s Vasu Pujari Loretto was elected as the President, while Moonish Ali of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) was elected as the Vice President.
The election saw Congress and SDPI joining hands, with SDPI supporting Vasu Pujari for the president’s post, and Congress backing Moonish Ali for the vice-presidential role. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded A. Govinda Prabhu for President and Hariprasad for Vice President.
In the 27-member Bantwal Municipality, both BJP and Congress hold 11 seats each, while SDPI has 4 seats, with one seat remaining vacant.
Despite Dakshina Kannada MP K. Brijesh Chowta and Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik’s participation (both representing BJP), which raised BJP’s position to 13, the Congress-SDPI alliance secured the victory after they formed an alliance.
