Amidst a national average success rate of around 19%, Rahmani30 soared high with an unparalleled 67.5% achievement, etching an indelible mark in the institution’s history and setting an exceptional benchmark.

The ICAI CA Intermediate examination, a rigorous professional test administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, represents the pivotal second phase in the Chartered Accountancy course. Comprising two groups with four papers each, it stands distinct from the Senior Secondary School Examination, commonly known as 10 + 2 or Intermediate.

The 2023 ICAI CA Intermediate exam saw an impressive participation of 393,679 students undertaking the Group 1 & Group 2 tests, with 75,954 candidates successfully qualifying—a cumulative pass rate of 19.29%. In striking contrast, Rahmani30’s cohort of 40 students showcased an outstanding 67.5% success rate, underscoring the institution’s commitment to academic excellence. Noteworthy were the November 2023 results, revealing an outstanding 80% success rate among female students in CA Intermediate Group 1, celebrating the remarkable achievements of women in this domain.

The newly elected members of Maulana Azad National Urdu University Teachers’ Association (MANUUTA) took oath in the investiture ceremony held at CPDUMT Auditorium Tuesday evening.

All the office bearers except Vice President were elected unopposed. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar were the guests of the oath taking ceremony.

Prof. Badiuddin Ahmed, Chairperson Election Committee, administered the oath to Dr. Shabana Kesar as the President of MANUUTA along with other office bearers. Dr. Salahuddin Syed, Vice President; Dr. Jameel Ahamad, General Secretary; Dr. Majid Ali Choudhary, Joint Secretary (organizing); Mr. Ahmad Talha Siddiqui, Joint Secretary (Publicity) and Mr. Chavala Mutyala Rao, Treasurer also took charge.

Dr. Shabana Kesar from the Department of Women Education is the first women President of MANUUTA.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan congratulated the newly elected office bearers and emphasized upon work for the welfare of the teaching community of MANUU. He also distributed certificates among office bearers.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Guest of Honour welcomed the new members and assured his full support for the overall development of the University.

Election officers – Dr. Syed Khaja Safiuddin convened the program and Mr. Mohd Omar proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Faheemuddin Ahmed, Dr. Z. Abdul Rahim, Dr. Khaja Moinuddin and Dr. Muqeem Ahmed also served as Election officers.

Ayesha, Hussain’s UPSC success stories inspire community

Ayesha had started preparing for the UPSC in her 12th grade, when a professor spotted her as a potential candidate. He made a case for it to her and her parents and convinced them.

Mumbai:

Two success stories coming out of the UPSC exams this year, Kazi Ayesha Ibrahim (rank 586) and Sayyed M Hussain (rank 570) have broken through the stereotypes and have emerged as a hope and inspiration for their community.

Ayesha had started preparing for the UPSC in her 12th grade, when a professor spotted her as a potential candidate. He made a case for it to her and her parents and convinced them.

Then came the years-long struggle, starting in 2017. “It takes a lot of hard work, there’s no doubt about that. But it is possible to study for 15 to 16 hours a day. I’ve done it,” said Ayesha.

Despite being a Muslim woman and stereotyped at every turn, she stuck to her books, using the disadvantages her way to study more and get better.

“My parents have always emphasised gaining knowledge. And there is no better match for gaining knowledge than the UPSC, with the diverse subjects we have to learn,” she said.

“What happens to girls is that many of them have a lack of exposure. All my sources of information were only from books,” said Ayesha.

Ayesha also lost the support of her institute after the prelims due to a change in administration, leaving her to study alone in the confines of her home, without any outside guidance.

She will be attempting the UPSC exam again, hoping to get a rank fit to get her into the Indian Foreign Services (IFS). In the meantime, she will accept the post she is offered.

After the results were released on Tuesday, Ayesha was felicitated for the achievement along with Hussain at an event organised by the Anjuman-I-Islami, of which Hussain is a former student.

Hussain, too, has a long history of struggle that ended in his scoring the 570th rank. He got through the prelims exam four times, only to fail in the main exam. He was fifth time lucky.

“It was very difficult at first. I repeated my mistakes,” he said. “Then I started teaching others for the exam, making some money so I could support myself and my family. That helped me.”

The son of a dock worker, who earns ₹18,000 a month, he said, “I’ve seen my dad struggle in the hot sun for 18 hours a day, so I found my situation easy.”

The journey was a lot more emotionally fraught for him than financial, dissuading him with every failure. But he persevered. “I am satisfied with my results, but now that I’ve gotten so much love from so many people, I wish I’d studied a little more.”

Hussain recounts a story of a call he received from a fellow resident of his area, Dongri, resounding with hope that he too could pass the exams after a few failures. His success has inspired the community.

Dozens of alumni of Jamiatul Falah, one of the South Asia’s finest institutions of Islamic studies, were felicitated in New Delhi on Sunday for obtaining PhD from prestigious universities in different streams, smashing the perception and prejudices built around the institution of madrasa.

The speakers enlightened the general public about the contributions made by the institution in inculcating religious teachings and moral regeneration among the students.

The distinguishing feature of the graduates of the Jamia is that they maintain good relations with each other, keep in touch in a systematic manner and always strive for the welfare of the Jamia, said Maulana Muhammad Tahir Madani, the renowned Islamic scholar and Nazim of Jamiatul Falah while addressing the gathering on the occasion.

He said that Jamiat al-Falah is not just the name of an educational institution or a center or an educational institution but it is an educational movement from which many generations have benefited and this process continues.

Jamia alumni are our brand ambassadors and the university has paid special attention to women’s education so that they can play an important role in the formation of a righteous society, he added.

The secretary of the Delhi unit Old Boys Association Mohammad Ershad Alam Falahi said that Jamiatul Falah was established by a group of dedicated scholars to promote knowledge and achieve greater goals for the common good. He compared the effort to the process of creating new clothes by using old fabric, letter by letter.

Rafat Kamal Fallahi, the President of the unit, thanked the audience and appreciated the Association for presenting the accomplishments of the Delhi Unit and discussing future plans. He assured everyone that the Old Boys Association would continue to extend its support in the progress and development of the community.

Asim Akram (Abbu Adeem) Falahi’s book, ‘Quran, Saransh Hindi Ek Taarak,’ was also released during the event.

Prof. Muzaffar Assadi, former acting Vice-Chancellor and currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts and senior-most Professor at the University of Mysore, was elected unopposed as the President-Elect of the Indian Social Science Academy for the year 2024-2025. He was formerly its Vice-President.

Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA) was founded in 1974 with the goal of evaluating, integrating and disseminating scientific knowledge about man, society and nature in relation to India’s specific circumstances and fostering harmony between social sciences, natural sciences and technology. ISSA is the only institution in the world that defines science as social and encompasses all fields of natural, social and behavioural sciences.

ISSA organises the Indian Social Science Congress (ISSC) every year with the goal of discovering, developing and disseminating science of Nature. The UGC, DST, ICSSR, ICHR, ICPR, INSA, ISRO, CSIR and ICMR are supporting ISSA.

Prof. V.K.R.V. Rao, one of the greatest economists in India and founder of the Delhi School of Economics, Institute of Economic Growth, and Institute of Social and Economic Change in Bengaluru, is among its former Presidents.

A Professor in the Department of Studies in Political Science, Prof. Assadi is also the Chairperson of the Department of Studies in Public Administration, University of Mysore and in-charge Chairperson, Department of English.

Prof. Assadi is a native of Shirva, Udupi Taluk, and a former student of St. Mary’s Institutions and Hindu Higher Elementary School in Shirva. He graduated from Mangalore University, JNU, New Delhi and University of Chicago.

Dr. Abdul Qadeer, chairman of the Shaheen Group of Institutions, Bidar, has expressed pride in the excellent performance of the Hifzul Quran course students at the Shaheen College in the NEET 2022.

Dr. Abdul Qadeer said that 12 students who had completed the Hifzul Quran Plus course at the Madrasa have gotten ranks in NEET and expect to be selected for the MBBS course in government medical colleges.

He was addressing a press meet at the Darussalam Hall of the Bangalore Islamic Foundation Trust, Queen’s Road, on Tuesday.

“The ‘Academic Intensive Care Unit (AICU)’ of the Shaheen Group provides a three-month foundation course of Mathematics and Language for students who have completed the Hifzul course through Madrasa education, without attending school, and for school dropouts. After this, a one-month bridge course is conducted in Science for the students to get admitted to Class 10. Next comes a year-long education with state syllabus or NIOC syllabus for the Madrasa-educated students to answer the Class 10 examinations. The intermediate course for two years, after this, prepares students for examinations like JEE, UPSC and NEET,” said the chairman.

He added that the Shaheen Group has been working for 12 years at getting Madrasa-educated students into the education mainstream. “With a view to ensure that all gates of education and career, including IAS, IPS, MBBS and Engineering, are opened for the Madrasa students and not restrict them to the religious field, we have started 35 AICU centres all over India. For the benefit of the Hafiz near Bengaluru, an AICU was started last year in Bannikuppe. More such centres will be opened at Darul Umar in Srirangapatna and Kanakapura. The Hafizes who have scored more than 350 marks in the NEET 2022 will be trained for free in our 12 residential complexes.”

Dr. Qadeer also said that, of the 1,800 Shaheen Group students who answered NEET this year, 450 students are expected to get free medical education seats, adding, “Of the government seats, students of our institutions expect to get 14 per cent.”

Hafiz Muhammad Ali Iqbal, who scored 680 in NEET, said that the four-year-long Hifzul course had helped him a lot. “I had quit my schooling to become a Hafiz. Studying with the Shaheen Group helped me score 68 in SSLC and 96 per cent in PU examinations,” he said and stated that he wished to become a doctor.

Jamia Ulum Shaheen Hifz Plus Academy director Syed Tanveer Ahmed, Falcon Shaheen Education Institutions director Abdul Subhan and the Madrasa students who had topped NEET were among those who attended the press meet.
