Kodagu Model School And BVB Secure 100% Results

Kodagu, KARNATAKA:

Mysore/Mysuru:

Kodagu Model School, promoted by Sri Kavery Kodava Association – Mysuru East, Vidyashankara Layout, has secured hundred percent results in the SSLC Exams for the academic year 2022-23.

Muhammed S. Shiraazuddin has topped Kodagu Model School with 598  marks out of 625 (95.68%).

Other students are: M.P. Nivedha – 594 (95.04%); Bhavish K. Gowda – 538 (86.08%); P. Prem Sagar – 533 (85.28%); S. Lohith Raje Urs – 530 (84.8%); H.U. Thejas Gowda – 525 (84%); R. Preethika – 519 (83.04%); N. Sanjana – 508 (81.28%); S. Preetham Raj – 507 (81.12%); R. Bindu – 501 (80.16%);   N.S. Nandish – 493 (78.88%); M.U. Anirudh – 488 (78.08%); D. Adithya – 478 (76.48%); H. Kiran – 462 (73.92%); S. Purushotham – 447 (71.52%); D.M. Nithish Gowda – 438 (70.08%); M. Tejas – 396 (63.36%); M. Harshavardhan – 375 (60%); P. Yadunandan –  362 (57.92%).

BVB School

The students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) School in Vijayanagar, Mysuru, too have excelled in SSLC and the School has secured 100 percent results.

Out of the 161 students who had appeared, 124 have passed with distinction and the rest 37 in first class.

Five-time MLA U T Khader all set to become Karnataka Assembly Speaker

Once elected, he will be the first Muslim leader to occupy the Speaker’s post in Karnataka.

Former minister and five-time legislator UT Khader is all set to be the Speaker of the Sixteenth Legislative Assembly of Karnataka. 

Khader will file the nomination for the Speaker’s post by 10:30 am today, Congress sources said. His election to the post will be formalised on Wednesday. The ruling party’s nominated candidate is generally, unanimously elected as the Speaker. Once elected, he will be the first Muslim leader to occupy the Speaker’s post in Karnataka. 

While the names of senior Congress leaders RV Deshpande and HK Patil were being considered, sources said neither of these leaders was interested in the post. 

Khader served as the Deputy leader of the Opposition during the previous BJP-led government. A five-time MLA, he first contested in the 2007 bypolls from the erstwhile Ullal constituency (now Mangaluru), after his father UT Fareed’s demise.

Fareed was a four-time legislator from the same constituency and his demise necessitated the bypolls. Ever since, Khader has consecutively won from Mangaluru constituency. 

In the 2013 Siddaramaiah-led government, he was first the health minister and later in held the Food and Civil Supplies portfolio. In the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in 2018, Khader held both the Housing and Urban Development portfolios. 

Khader, who holds a bachelor’s degree in law, started his political career as a district functionary in the NSUI way back in 1990. The former minister is also a sports enthusiast. He is into Motor Sports, cricket, hockey, tennis and volleyball.

Global Talent Enhancement and Cultural Exchange Program launched in Mangaluru

Skiltec Ace Global Human Resources in association with Etisalat Academy UAE launched the Global Talent Enhancement Program in Mangaluru, here at the Ocean Pearl Hotel in the city on Friday, May 5.

The event was attended by prominent personalities Syed Mohamed Beary, Vivek Alva, Farhad Yenepoya among others along with Dr. Mahammed Almarzooqi, Sr. Director Special Projects and Planning Etisalat Academy.

Syed Mohamed Beary, Founder and CMD, Bearys Group and Chairman and Managing Trustee Bearys Education, in his keynote address said skillset is one of the most important things that needs to be developed among the students and youngsters.

He also said that skillset in the modern times are missing the human touch and that spirituality should be taught to the younger generation as it is equally important.

He further stressed about how it was crucial to teach application of mind to the students which play an important role in their overall development and growth.

Vivek Alva, Managing Director, Alva’s Group of Institutions also extended support to the project adding that the project is set play a crucial role in providing employment and developmental opportunity to the fresh graduates from local institutions.

He also added that while the institutions create and groom talents, placing them at right and employment opportunities was also important.

Farhad Yenepoya of the Yenepoya Group of Institutions, in his address noted that for any educational institution, skilling its students was one of the most important and difficult task as students from several backgrounds and different skillset come under one roof. He also hoped the program would be beneficial for the fresh graduates in the region and would give them greater opportunities for their growth.

Mohammed Haris, Trade Commissioner, UAE Arab Asian Chamber of Commerce also spoke during the event and wished the project luck while also assuring of extending support through his organisation.

Dr. Mahammed Almarzooqi presented an introduction of the Etisalat Academy and spoke about the program and how it would help the local educational institutions and students.

Dr. SM Rasheed Haji, President, Bearys Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Mumtaj Ali BM, Chairman, Misbah Group of Institutions, Rahul Haridas, Channel Partner Manager, Etisalat and Evangelyn Brigaudit, Client Relations Manager, Etisalat Academy were also present as Guests of Honor during the event.

‘Green Valley’ students glitter once again with 100% First Classes

ICSE EXAMS 2018 

Udupi : 

Green Valley National School and PU College, Shiroor has scored 100% result for the 11th consecutive year in ICSE Grade X Exams with an outstanding performance taking the school performance to a higher level.

Out of 63 students all the students have registered good results 100% pass and first class in all subjects. 20 students have secured High Distinction and 43 students have secured High first Classes.

MARIAM INAYATULLAH is a topper scoring 472 (94.4%). SOHAIL AHAMED ANWAR scored 470 (94%) and come second. MOHAMMED SAOUD secured the third position with 466 (93.2%).

While continuing the tradition of excellence and 100% results, students have secured an all-time record in high first class.

Basavaraja C.Horatti, Hon’ble Speaker of Vidhana Parishad of Karnataka Government has released a new book in Kannada, Kannada Sahityadalli Muslim Samvedane which means ‘Contribution of Muslim Writers to Kannada Literature’.

The book was released at a colourful function at the  ‘Cochin Kannada Cultural Festival 2023’ which was  promoted by joint auspices of Kannada Sangha Cochin, Kasaragod District Kannada Journa lists Association, Karnataka Border Area Development Authority,  and Karnataka Working  Journalists Association.

Kannada speaking masses in Ernakulum and various parts of kerala and Karnataka attended the festival in large.   

The convention featured symposium, many cultural programs and a parade.

Karnataka 2nd PU result 2023: Commerce Topper Ananya K.A scores 600/600 & Arts Topper Tabassum Sheikh scores 593/600.

The results of the 2nd PU exams in Karnataka were announced on April 21.

The results of the 2nd PU exams in Karnataka were announced on April 21 by Ritish Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy, and Ramachandran, Chairman of Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board.

M. Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri offering sweets to Ananya K.A., who topped the commerce stream in the second PU exams in Karnataka. The results were announced on April 21, 2023.

Ananya K.A. , commerce student, Alva’s PU college, Moodabidri is the topper in Karnataka scoring 600 marks out of 600. She hails from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district. She joined Alva’s PU College under the institution’s scholarship scheme

In the arts steam, Tabassum Sheikh, NMKRV PU College, Bengaluru is the topper with 593/600 marks.

S.M. Koushik from Gangothri PU college, Srinivaspura, Kolar district, and Surabhi S. from R.V. PU college, NMKRV campus, Bengaluru are the toppers in the science stream with 596 marks for 600.

How PU students performed as compared to last year

At 74.67%, the pass percentage in the II PU exams shot up by 12% from the previous year.

Of the 7,02,067 students who appeared for the exams, 5,24,209 have cleared them. A total of 4,79,746 (78.97%) regular students, 33,833 (48.42%) repeaters and 10,630 (43.02%) private candidates passed.

The pass percentage in the arts stream (1,34,876 students) was 61.22%, in commerce (1,82,246 students) was 75.89%, and in science (2,07,087 students) was 85.71%.

This year too, the pass percentage of girls is higher than boys — 2,82,602 girls (80.25%) passed against 2,41,607 (69.05%) boys. The performance of rural students was better than those in the urban areas — 1,19,860 (74.79%) rural students passed against 4,04,349 (74.63%) urban.

A total of 1,09,509 students got distinction (above 85%), 2,47,315 students got first class (60% to 85%), 90,014 students got second class (50% to 60%) and 77,371 students secured more than the minimum marks to pass (35% to 50%).

Murali Abbemane, Mariyam Rasheeda win Dr. Krishi Photo Story Award

The results were announced at the inauguration of an exhibition of photo stories that was shortlisted for the award on Saturday, April 15, in Mangaluru.

Murali M. Abbemane and K.M. Mariyam Rasheeda were declared winners of the Dr. Krishi Photo Story Award 2022 of the “Under 30 Photo Story Contest” organised by the Mangaluru Chapter of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) in association with Art Kanara Trust.

The results were announced at the inauguration of an exhibition of photo stories that was shortlisted for the award on Saturday, April 15, in Mangaluru.

Pranam Shreedhar and Shravya Manjunath were the finalists. Likhith Raj Gatty and Sowjanya Jogi (joint project), Neel Kote and Vivek Gowda were the shortlisted contestants. The contest was announced in August 2022 and elicited 28 entries, said a release.

Physician and writer B. Srinivas Kakkilaya, photojournalist Yajna and advertising photographer and filmmaker Prakash Braggs, who was one of the jury members, were the dignitaries on the occasion.

Releasing ‘Metaphors of Physical & Emotional Spaces,’ a book on shortlisted entries, Dr. Kakkilaya spoke about his friendship with Late Dr. Krishna Mohan (Dr. Krishi). “Krishna Mohan was one of the first Mangalorean to explore the internet and launch a website, inspiring many others.” During COVID-19, he was active in dispelling myths and creating public awareness by publishing scientific information.

Responding to an audience query, whether a story is required to explain a photograph, Mr. Yajna said, “A single shot photo is a work of art and should speak for itself. But, a photojournalist or a photo storyteller needs to build a context around the single or multiple photos to reach out to the viewers.”

Mr. Braggs explained the ‘less is more’ concept in photography. “It’s not about what you include in the photo, but what you leave out.”

The exhibition of photographs would be open to the public till April 23, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m at Kodialguthu Centre for Art and Culture, G.G. Road, Ballalbagh.

M Iqbal Manna reinstalled as President of the Giants Group of Udupi for 2023

M Manna Iqbal was on Monday reinstalled as the President of the Giants Group of Udupi for the year 2023, in a ceremony held at the Woodlands Hotel here in the city.

Dinkar K Amin, a Central Committee member of the Giants Welfare Foundation was present as the Chief Guest of the event while Vasudev Mahale, Unit Director of Federation 6 was the installation officer at the ceremony.

Former Federation President Jayarajprakash was the keynote speaker at the event while Dr. Junaida Sulthana, Academic Head, MET, Udyavara, Udupi, Tejeshwar Roa, Federation vice-president, and Lakshmikanth Beskoor, Federation coordinator were present as the guests of honor.

Four women – Dildar Akbar – Special Needs School, Udupi, Sushma Gopalkrishna – Police Inspector Udupi Women’s police station, Bindu Thankappan, Advocate, Shaila Amanna, Asha Nilaya, Udupi – were also felicitated for their outstanding services and selfless contribution towards the society.

The new committee of the Giants Group Udupi was also formed. Yashwant Salian and Vincent Saldana were appointed vice-presidents, Roshan Ballal. Director of Administration, Vadiraj, Joint Director of Administration, Ganesh Ural, Director of Finance, Dayanand Kalmady, Joint Director of Finance. Prabhakar Bangera, Liyaqath Ali, Vinay Kumar Poojary, Zeenath, Geetha Rao, and Diwakar Sanil took oath as Directors.

Roshan Ballal presented the annual report while Vivek Kamath proposed a vote of thanks and compered the event.

The event was followed by an Iftaar arrangement for the members and audience.

Prof. Muzaffar Assadi Elected As President Of Indian Social Science Academy

Prof. Muzaffar Assadi, former acting Vice-Chancellor and currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts and senior-most Professor at the University of Mysore, was elected unopposed  as the President-Elect of the Indian Social Science Academy for the year 2024-2025. He was formerly its Vice-President.

Indian Social Science Academy (ISSA) was founded in 1974 with the goal of evaluating, integrating and disseminating scientific knowledge about man, society and nature in relation to India’s specific circumstances and fostering harmony between social sciences, natural sciences and technology. ISSA is the only institution in the world that defines science as social and encompasses all fields of natural, social and behavioural sciences.

ISSA organises the Indian Social Science Congress (ISSC) every year with the goal of discovering, developing and disseminating science of Nature. The UGC, DST, ICSSR, ICHR, ICPR, INSA, ISRO, CSIR and ICMR are supporting ISSA.

Prof. V.K.R.V. Rao, one of the greatest economists in India and founder of the Delhi School of Economics, Institute of Economic Growth, and Institute of Social and Economic Change in Bengaluru, is among its former Presidents.

A Professor in the Department of Studies in Political Science, Prof. Assadi is also the Chairperson of  the Department of Studies in Public Administration, University of  Mysore and in-charge Chairperson, Department of English.

Prof. Assadi is a native of Shirva, Udupi Taluk, and a former student of St. Mary’s Institutions and Hindu Higher Elementary School in Shirva. He graduated from Mangalore University,  JNU, New Delhi  and University of Chicago.
