JMI celebrates Mohd Adnan’s role in Chandrayaan-3

Former student of Jamia Millia Islamia, Muhammad Adnan, who has been working with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) since 2008, has played an important role in the historic mission of Chandrayaan-3.

Adnan Sardast is working as Scientist (F) in Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) of ISRO.

Adnan has also been involved in the prestigious Chandrayaan-2 and Mars Mission (MOM) teams.

Adnan who hails from the Darbhanga city of Bihar did his Bachelor in Engineering in Computer Science from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2007.

Jamia Millia Islamia’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar said, “I am extremely happy that our students are doing so well in this particular field. This has doubled our happiness. I congratulate Adnan for the role he has played in the mission. This will surely inspire our students to strive for nation building.”

It may be mentioned that three other former students of the university, Amit Kumar Bharadwaj, Mohammad Kashif and Areeb Ahmed were also part of ISRO’s historic Chandrayaan-3 mission.

AMU Research Scholar Selected To Attend 70th Lindau Nobel Laureates Meet

Mantasha Idrisi, a PhD student from the Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been selected to attend the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureates meeting. She is among the 20 Indians who have been selected to attend the meet.

A total of 660 young scientists and researchers from 101 countries will attend the meet.

Mantasha Idrisi, a PhD student from the Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) , has been selected to attend the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureates meeting. She is among the 20 Indians who have been selected to attend the meet.

On her selection, Mantasha said, “It is a lifetime opportunity to meet and discuss my research with the stalwarts in their respective fields”.

A total of 660 young scientists and researchers from 101 countries from all over the world have been selected to meet 70 Nobel Laureates for cross-generational and interdisciplinary exchange at Lindau in Germany from June 28 to July 3.

The meeting will help her in exploring different approaches, developing interaction with diverse groups of researchers and stakeholders and bringing new ideas to AMU on her return, said Omar Peerzada, Public Relations Office, AMU.

She will also present a report of the meeting at the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in New Delhi.

Last year, in the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureates meet, Mohammad Adnan , a PhD student from IIT Delhi was selected. Mohammad Adnan, who completed his schooling from Azamgarh, had finished his B.Sc from AMU and had topped the M.Sc. examination in 2015.

Every year since 1951, Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, physics, physiology and Medicine meet at Lindau to discuss the issues of importance in their respective fields with students from around the world.

IIT-Delhi Research Scholar Mohammad Adnan Selected For Prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

Mohammad Adnan, a research scholar in the Department of Physics at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, has been selected to attend a high-profile annual gathering of Nobel Laureates and emerging scientists from around the world.

He is among 600 most qualified young scientists from around the globe to attend the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany, which is dedicated to physics. Key topics are cosmology, laser physics and gravitational waves.

Adnan is currently a doctoral student under the supervision of Prof G. Vijaya Prakash, Nanophotonics Labs, Department of Physics, IIT Delhi. He was selected for his research on the emission properties of organic and inorganic materials.

Every year since 1951, Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, physics, physiology and Medicine gather at Lindau to discuss the issues of importance in their respective fields with students from around the world. Getting selected for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is recognition of a researcher’s work in his/her respective field.

According to the statement issued by the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, the selected young scientists are outstanding undergraduates, PhD students and post-doctoral students under the age of 35, conducting research in the field of physics. They have successfully passed a multi-stage international selection process. About 140 science academies, universities, foundations and research-oriented companies contributed to the nominations.

Reacting to his selection, Adnan said that he is excited to attend the prestigious meeting, which will give him an opportunity to interact with so many Nobel laureates at one place.

Mohammad Adnan, who completed his schooling from Azamgarh, finished his B.Sc from Aligarh Muslim University and topped the M.Sc. examination in 2015. In February, this year, he also won the Newton-Bhabha Fellowship under which he will be visiting Cambridge University from July to November this year.

The Lindau meeting will be held from June 30 to July 5.
