National JMI School Teacher Dr Rakhshanda Roohi Mehdi Bags Prestigious Literary Award of Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy

NEW DELHI:

Dr Rakhshanda Roohi Mehdi, prominent fiction writer and a teacher of Syed Abid Hussain Senior Secondary School, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi has bagged the prestigious Hamid Saeed Khan Award of Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy for her Urdu short story collection titled “Monsoon Store” and will receive Rs.51,000/- as award money.

This award recognizes the efforts of progressive women and the exceptional achievements of women who have broken barriers and demonstrated outstanding skills in their respective fields.

JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar congratulated Dr Rakshanda Roohi for her great achievements and wished her good luck for her future endeavours. 

Dr. Rakhshanda said, “I am deeply honored and grateful to have been selected for this award. I am passionate about my writing and this award truly reflects what I believe in – a woman’s courage and her strong role in improving lives. I am committed to continue my efforts and empower women in the society”. 

Apart from “Monsoon Store”, Rakhshanda has also penned another Urdu short story collection “Magar aik shaakh e nihaal e gham”. She has also written “Aik khwab jaagti ankhon ka”, a Hindi short story collection and one Book on Sufism named “Alakhdas.”

She has also translated two novels namely “Aakhri Swariyan” and a Pakistani novel titled “Naulakhi Kothi” in Hindi from Urdu. 

Earlier, DD Urdu has broadcasted a tele film “Chilman k paar” which was based on her story named “Bahut sambhala wafa ka paiman magar…”. 

A play “Kahan hai Manzil e Raah e tamanna” on her story has been staged in Ram Lal Bhawan New Delhi.  

In addition to this, she has authored many articles which have been published in renowned magazines and newspapers. She is a regular participant of talk shows and story narrations of All India Radio and DD Urdu. 

She has been honored with many other awards for her literary work.

12 research scholars from JMI bags the prestigious Prime Minister Research Fellowship

Last year 6 researchers of the university were awarded the prestigious fellowship under the December 2020 drive but this year the number of recipients just doubled. The researchers will receive a fellowship of Rs 70,000 for the first two years, Rs 75,000 for 3rd, and Rs 80,000 for the fourth and fifth years

Twelve research scholars from Jamia Millia Islamia University have been selected for the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) Award under the lateral entry scheme of the May 2022 drive, the university announced on Wednesday.

Last year 6 researchers of the university were awarded the prestigious fellowship under the December 2020 drive but this year the number of recipients just doubled. The winners of this year are:

  3. Mohammad Masood (Department of Biotechnology)
  4. Gulnaz Tabassum (Department of Biotechnology)
  5. Ayesha Aiman (Department of Biosciences)
  6. Sakeena Masrat (CNN)
  7. Mudasir Younis Sofi (Department of Physics)
  8. Shah Masheerul Alam (Department of Physics)
  9. Shelly Bhardwaj (Department of Chemistry)
  10. Sneha Shukla (Department of Chemistry)
  11. Abdus Samad (CIRBSc)
  12. Nuha Abeer Khan (MCARS)

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar said, “JMI stands for excellence and strives hard to provide its students with every possible support to achieve great heights. This performance reflects the university’s focus on high-quality research and I am particularly happy that six out of the twelve students are girls. I hope that it would inspire other students, particularly girl students of the university to do well in science and engineering research.”

PMRF Coordinator, Prof. Abdul Quaiyum Ansari said that these researchers will receive a fellowship of Rs 70, 000 for the first two years, Rs 75,000 for 3rd, and Rs 80,000 for the fourth and fifth years. Along with this, each fellow will get a research grant of Rs 2 lakh per year (a total of Rs 10 lakh for five years) under the PMRF.

Jamia Millia Islamia Class 10 results declared

NEW DELHI :

Jamia Millia Islamia has declared Class 10 (Regular) examination results, girls outshine boys.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has declared the result of Class 10 (Regular) today. Out of the total students assessed approximately 48 percent were boys and 52 percent were girls. The result is available online at www.jmicoe.in.

Girls outshine boys in the exam and grabbed top positions. Sumaiya Hasan Khan with 98.85 % got the first position. There was a tie on the second position as both Sadia Aman and Arisha Majeed Zahoory secured 97.85% . Nafisa Hasan secured 3rd position with 97.71% marks.

A total of 595 students secured 1st division with distinction and 209 students secured above 90% marks.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jamia Millia Islamia followed the alternative assessment policy submitted by the CBSE before the Delhi High Court which was designed by a 13-member committee set up by the board.

JMI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar congratulated the successful students and wished them a bright future. She hoped that they would bring laurels to the Institution and Nation.

Prof. Akhtar appreciated the efforts of the Dean Faculty of Education and Dean Faculty of Engineering &Technology who were coordinators of the exam. She also appreciated the Controller of Examination and his team for timely declaration of results.
