In a recent development, Adil Parvez has been elected as the new President of the Highland Islamic Forum (HIF) India. The election took place on Monday at the HIF India’s auditorium here in the city.
The newly elected president is poised to lead the organization for the next three years, steering its path with fresh vision and ideas.
The electoral process was conducted under the supervision of Katchi Masjid’s Khateeb, Moulana Shoeb Hussain Nadwi, who served as the election officer.
The program commenced with a qirath recital by HIF member Mohammed Haneef PS, adding a touch of spiritual significance to the proceedings.
Bilal Raif, another member of HIF, took on the role of hosting the event as the Master of Ceremony, ensuring a smooth and engaging affair.
Ex-president Nazim Ak expressed his gratitude and extended well-wishes to the newly elected President, Adil Parvez, as he takes on the responsibility of leading HIF India to new heights.

India’s bravest cop Saifullah was reflection of courage & compassion.

It has been four days when terrorists shot dead a senior constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Saifullah Qadri in Soura locality, besides, injuring his 9 year old daughter, a number of people can still be seen visiting his shattered family and his graveyard.
As per the family, slain Qadri joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police services in 2012 and was a senior constable. He was deputed with police’s elite anti-terrorism unit Special Operations Group (SOG), whose headquarters is dubbed ‘Cargo’.
Qadri was killed when he was on his way to drop off his daughter at the tuition center. Both father and daughter were rushed to SKIMS medical facility however the former succumbed to his injuries.
The slain policeman’s brother, Mohammad Syed Qadri told Rising Kashmir that his brother was helpful to everyone in the locality. He was off duty when the incident took place.
Terming his killing as “cold-blooded murder”, Mohammed stated that his brother was hope for the family. He was innocent and was doing his work professionally, he added.
“Saifullah was humble and why was he killed? He was running a family of five. I do not know whom to question!” asked confused Mohammed.
His 9-year-old daughter identified as Safa Qadri, who is a Class 3rd student, also sustained a bullet injury during the attack.
However, her condition is stated to be stable and undergoing surgery at a hospital.
Another family member said Qadri had returned just two days before as he had left for New Delhi for some work. He was a brave and hardworking person.
Narrating the fateful incident, he said Qadri was home that time after her 9-year daughter compelled him to drop her at the tuition center.
“Once the duo stepped out of their house and they were attacked by two bike-borne gunmen. They first fired upon his daughter and then fired six bullets at him, leaving him critically injured. Later he succumbed to his injuries at a hospital,” he said.
The family member further added that his daughter had pleaded before the gunmen not to kill her father but they did not listen to her screams.
Qadri was born and brought up in Khawaja Bazar and then his family shifted to Khanyar. After his marriage, he purchased his new house in Soura, where he was living with his family.
The father of slain policeman, Muhammad Syed Qadri is still in utter shock and was not able to speak to anybody. He is being treated and gets unconscious every now and then.
Another relative, Mohammad Usman, who had come to console the bereaved family, says this family has seen tragedy in their entire life.
Usman said before their son, their two daughters had also died,” he said.“It is painful to see them. Why did they (gunmen) kill him? He had not killed or harmed anybody in his entire life. We have never seen him carrying a gun or pistol in his hand,” he said.“But his killing broke our back,” he said. “I don’t know what crime he had done to deserve a death like this!”
As per neighbors, Saifullah was a caring and compassionate character and at the same time touched many lives in a short time. He was an ideal son who was an “obedient, responsible, and loving” person.
The slain cop is survived by his wife, two daughters (one injured), and a son.
Condemning the killing, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had tweeted, “I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Soura, Srinagar. I assure the people that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished.”
Earlier this week, Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said the entire society including families of the terrorists should condemn the attacks on an unarmed policeman and her 09-year-old daughter. “We will soon identify the attackers and kill them. Terrorists have been attacking the unarmed policemen who are on leave. We pay our rich tributes to the slain for his supreme sacrifice and stand by his family at this crucial juncture, “the IGP said.
The wreath-laying ceremony of slain SgCt Saifullah Qadri was held at District Police Lines, Srinagar.
Civil, CAPFs and & Police officers led by IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Asad is a 23-year-old resident of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, who has been innovative since childhood. Recently, he built a seven-seater solar bike. Impressed by his creation, IIT Kanpur has invited him for a discussion. If IIT Kanpur likes Asad’s idea, he may receive financial assistance to improve his product. Asad’s dream is to build a solar plane as well.
Asad Abdullah, hailing from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, has always displayed a flair for innovation. From a young age, he engaged in creating small-scale inventions and sharing his progress through YouTube videos. It was in 2017 that Asad’s work gained recognition and appreciation, motivating him to explore the world of electronics further. Fuelled by his innate curiosity and a desire to make a positive impact, Asad embarked on a remarkable journey of innovation.
When the price of petrol increased, the idea of building a solar-powered bike came to mind
Asad has been innovating since the age of 8. When he was 13, he built a motor using a battery from a remote-controlled car. His dream now is to build a solar energy and battery-powered plane. It will take about a year and a half to build it. How did the idea of building a seven-seater bike come about? In response to this question, Asad says that he got the idea after watching the film ‘Golmaal’ starring Ajay Devgn.
“With the skyrocketing prices of diesel and petrol, it has become difficult for the common man. Seeing people’s difficulties, I thought why not create something that allows people to travel from one place to another at a lower cost? After a lot of thinking, the idea of building this bike came to my mind. I started working on it. It took about a month to build this bike, and it cost around RS 12,000. Once it is built, it can be fully charged at RS 8-10 rupees, and then it can travel up to 150 kilometers.” Asad told TwoCircles.net.
“I recently received a call from IIT Kanpur, inviting me to discuss my project in detail. I am thrilled to visit IIT Kanpur and engage in comprehensive discussions about my creation,” Asad said.
He expressed his desire to construct a solar bike that is robust and cost-effective, ensuring accessibility even for individuals from impoverished and rural regions.
IIT Kanpur invites Asad for assistance in innovation and incubation
The Innovation and Incubation Center at IIT Kanpur helps talented children in the country who think of creating something new and unique. There are 14 programs at IIT Kanpur under which assistance is provided to these talented students. Funding ranging from 3 lakh rupees to 3 crore rupees is provided.
“We have invited Asad to come here to understand the process and present his ideas. We will help him pitch his idea. If the idea is liked, we can provide financial assistance ranging from 300,000 to 700,000 rupees. Asad’s work falls under the prototype category, for which we provide up to 700,000 rupees and a place to work within the campus.” Rishabh Pandey, Assistant Manager (The Innovation and Incubation Center at IIT Kanpur) told TwoCircles.net.

Misbah Anwar Khan, a resident of Jalna city in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, has become an inspiring example for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with her remarkable performance in the NEET Exam 2023, scoring 633 out of 720 marks.
Misbah hails from a humble working-class family, with her father running a puncture repair shop in Mujahid Chowk, Jalna City.
Her achievement is a testament to her perseverance and determination. Despite facing challenging circumstances at home, she remained focused on her studies and never gave up. To date, she has only received a scholarship of 15 thousand rupees from the “Seema Khatib” foundation after passing her SSC exam.
The Seema Khatib Medley Pharma scholarship, awarded by an NGO based in Mumbai, supports deserving students who aspire to pursue professional or technical courses such as medicine or engineering.
Misbah’s academic performance has been exceptional even in her SSC Board Exam, where she scored 92% marks, followed by 86% marks in the Class 12 board exam.
Cracking the NEET Exam
Speaking to TwoCircles.net, Misbah shared that she had dreamt of becoming a doctor since childhood. “Alhamdulillah, now I am qualified to pursue this course. I dedicated myself fully to my studies, never wasting time, and remained focused on clearing the NEET Exam.”
“This was my second attempt,” she explained. “The guidance provided by Ankush sir in the tuition class was invaluable to me, and he didn’t charge any fees. I will always be grateful for his educational assistance.”
Due to the high fees associated with coaching and a lack of proper guidance, Misbah couldn’t succeed on her first attempt. However, her enthusiasm caught the attention of Akash Sonawne, who runs the ‘Premier Institute of Science.’ He took her under his wing, providing free coaching at his institute.
Overcoming Hardships
Despite facing challenging circumstances and coming from a financially disadvantaged background, Misbah and her siblings are determined to pursue their dreams through education. Misbah is the third child among four siblings. Her elder sister is married, while her brothers are currently studying in 12th grade and the first year of their degree program.
Misbah’s father, Anwar Khan, completed his education up to the 9th standard. Due to hardships at home, he started his small shop repairing vehicle tyre punctures. The family lives in a one-bedroom house that belonged to Anwar’s grandfather.
“I understand the importance of education,” Anwar told TwoCircles. “That’s why I want my children to study. My eldest son wants to help me after his college hours, but I don’t allow him to do that. I don’t want him to get distracted. I have been running my tyre puncture repair shop for the last 30 years.”
Running the household and bearing the educational expenses of his children is burdensome for 53-year-old Anwar Khan. However, he has full faith in Allah and manages to earn between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 15,000 from his work, with the potential to earn up to Rs. 20,000 during prosperous times.
Felicitation and Honors for Misbah
After learning about Misbah’s success in the NEET exams, prominent members of Jalna visited their humble abode to extend their congratulations and good wishes. Her school management also invited her for a felicitation ceremony.
Iftikhar Bagwan, the secretary of Anjuman E Ishat E Talim’s Urdu High School & Junior College, Jalna, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank the Almighty for rewarding Misbah’s hard work and sincerity. I also extend my thanks to everyone who prayed for Misbah’s success. Her achievement is a feather in our institution’s cap. Misbah has always been a bright student and has once again excelled in NEET, making us proud.”
Misbah’s father, Anwar Khan, overflowing with joy, shared that, tears of happiness filled their eyes upon hearing the news of her success. “I thank Almighty for showering his blessings on me and my children,” he said emotionally.
“We are looking forward to admitting her to medical college. Misbah has won a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000, and some well-wishers have promised to assist with my daughter’s higher education. So, I am hopeful that we will be able to fulfil her dream of becoming a doctor,” he added.
Misbah’s aspiration as a future doctor is to provide medical aid to the underprivileged.

A Wreath Laying Ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, MVC (P) was organised at his Memorial in Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Cemetery on 03rd July 2023.
Several Retired and Serving officers including Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, SM** Col of the PARA Regiment and DG OL & SM, Brig. Rajneesh Mohan Cdr 50 (I) PARA Bde, Lt. Gen Gurbir Pal Singh, AVSM, VSM, DG NCC Delhi, Lt. Gen Velayudhan Sreehari, AVSM, SC, SM, AG’s BR DG (MP&PS), Lt Gen Subriti S Dahiya, SM VSM, Comdt NDC and Maj Gen Prashant Srivastava, AVSM, SM, Addl MS (B) attended the function and paid their tributes by laying a wreath at the Memorial of Brig. M. Usman, MVC (P).
A wreath was also placed at the Memorial of Brig. M. Usman PVC (P) on behalf of JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri), as her tribute to the memory of the gallant officer. NCC cadets and officers were also present to witness the solemn occasion and pay their respects.
Under Brig. Mohammad Usman, MVC (P) Para Brigade successfully defended the city of Naushera against Pakistani Tribal forces, and then valiantly recaptured the city of Jhangar.
Late Brigadier Mohammad Usman, also known as the savior of Naushera, was responsible for the recapture of Jhangar & Naushera (Jammu & Kashmir) during 1947- 48 war with Pakistan.
The gallant officer attained martyrdom on 03rd July 1948 when an enemy artillery shell landed close to him in Naushera.

The Dawoodi Bohra community has launched a global program to conserve water and recharge groundwater through effective rainwater harvesting techniques.
Recognising the global water scarcity issues, the leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, in his recent address to community members in Mombasa, Kenya, stressed the importance of preserving and conserving water.
“Following the instructions of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, a team of over 200 community officials were mobilised to visit more than 250 villages, towns and cities in India to study the strain on existing water supplies and provide support for building a more resilient and sustainable water management system”, said Shabbir Najmuddin, Associate Executive Trustee of Burhani Foundation, the community’s 30-year-old environmental body which is leading this initiative in collaboration with other organisations.
The process of water conservation
“As part of the first phase of the water conservation program, we targeted water-challenged areas in India by guiding them to harvest rainwater in their backyards, wells, ponds and other local catchment areas,” Najmuddin added, awareness programs were also held at educational institutions and community centres to showcase various methods of rainwater harvesting and their benefits in revitalising depleted groundwater levels.
“Various stakeholders in the water management field and municipalities were also consulted and involved in the survey to gauge the local conditions and take their opinions in adopting methods that best suit the region’s topography,” he added.
For the long-term rollout of the program, Burhani Foundation is identifying project coordinators from each area who will be tagged to experts to troubleshoot issues and facilitate the installation of rainwater harvesting systems in their regions. In the coming days, the Foundation is also going to reach out to community representatives from across the globe to harness the power of rainfall in their regions and share best practices for other areas to adopt. Besides that, the Trust is also rejuvenating defunct wells in the identified areas.
During the survey of rainwater harvesting in households 43-year-old Ismail Raja from Shahada, a town in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, shared, “We installed a rainwater harvesting system in our backyard two years ago to recharge our borewell. Since then we have never faced water shortage as our borewell provides water not just to our families but also at times to our neighbours.”
Another community member, Jaffer Shabbir (36) from Savda village next to Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, is using a simple yet effective solution to recharge the nearby well which had run dry in 2017. He says, “By collecting rainwater from the roof of our hall and parking area which we give on rent for weddings and other functions, we’re harnessing the power of rain to replenish the groundwater in the neighbourhood.”

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin’s unwavering commitment to environmental conservation reflects in his broader vision of leading a harmonious and sustainable life. In his sermons, he continues to counsel the community to protect and preserve nature while inspiring individuals from all walks of life to actively participate in conserving natural resources and embracing practices that promote environmental sustainability.
According to NITI Aayog, nearly 600 million people, which is almost 50% of India’s population, are facing water shortage issues. The country is vulnerable to droughts as well as floods even as climate change is increasing unpredictability in weather patterns and leading to more extreme weather events. Rainwater harvesting, water reservoirs and other methods can help mitigate these extreme events by storing & recharging groundwater and releasing it when needed.

2 Jamia Professors, alumnus scoop Delhi Urdu Academy Award
It is a matter of pride for Jamia Millia Millia (JMI) that a current Professor, a retired Professor and an alumnus of the university received prestigious awards for their literary contributions by the Urdu Academy, Government of Delhi.
The award function was organised at the Auditorium of the Delhi Secretariat, IP Estate on 6th July, 2023.
Prof. Mohammad Asaduddin of the Department of English has received the Award for Translation for the year 2021-22 by the Urdu Academy, Government of Delhi.
Prof. Shamsul Haque Usmani, a retired Professor of the university received Pt. Brij Mohan Dattataria Kaifi award for the year 2021-22 .
JMI alumnus Dr. Aadil Hayat received award for Children Literature for the year 2019-20 by the Academy.
Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, JMI congratulated the awardees and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Abdul Naseeb Khan, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, JMI and Prof. Anisur Rahman, a former Professor of English at JMI received Urdu academy, Delhi’s Award for Translation in the year 2018 and 2019 respectively.

It is a matter of great pride for the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) that Dr. Abdul Naseeb Khan and Dr Khalid Javed of the university have been conferred with Uttar Pradesh Urdu Academy Award (Rs.One Lakh and citation).
Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar extended her heartiest congratulations to both the awardees.
Dr Abdul Naseeb Khan who is currently working as the Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, JMI has been given ‘Award for Translation’. He has to his credit translations of Ghalib’s Urdu poetry, Premchand’s stories, urdu novels, critical urdu writings and several modern urdu poets. He has also been a recipient of Delhi Urdu Academy award for translation in the year 2018. He holds PhD on translation of modern urdu poetry into english.
Dr Khalid Javed a Professor, Urdu Department, JMI received the award for Urdu Fiction. He has also been a recipient of Delhi Urdu Academy Award for Fiction in the year 2018. He has authored three very famous novels- ‘Maut Ki Kitab’, ‘Nematkhana’ and ‘Ek Khanjar Paani Me’. His story ‘Aakhri Dawat’ translated as ‘The Last Supper’ by Abdul Naseeb Khan is on the syllabus of Urdu in Princeton University, USA. His ‘Maut Ki Kitab’ has also been translated as the ‘Book of Death’ by Abdul Naseeb Khan.
Besides, Prof. Khalid Mahmood, a Retired Professor of the Dept. of Urdu, JMI has also bagged a prize for his book ‘ Nuqush-e-Mani’ .

Professor Shehzad Anjum, Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a renowned critic, researcher and the senior most Professor of the department.
Parvez Shahidi Award:
Professor Shehzad Anjum, Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been conferred the prestigious ‘Parvez Shahidi Award’ of the West Bengal Urdu Academy for his great work in Urdu language. He is a renowned critic, researcher and the senior most Professor of the department.
JMI Vice Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar, faculty members and students congratulated Professor Anjum for their great achievement.
Professor Anjum is one of the few prominent writers of the present era whose writings are thought-provoking.
Some of his published books are Urdu Ke Ghair Muslim Shaura-o-Udaba, Ahad Saz Shaksiyat: Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Deedawar Naqqad: Gopi Chand Narang, Azadi Ke Baad Urdu Shairi, Azhar Inayati: Ek Sukhanwar Shayar, Ehtisham Hussain Ki Takhliqi Nigarishat, Tanqeedi Jehaat, Urdu Aur Hindustan Ki Mushtarka Tahzeebi Virasat, Rabindranath Tagore: Fikr-o-Fan, have been published.
He successfully completed the “Tagore Research and Translation Scheme” started by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India as the Coordinator, Department of Urdu, JMI. It is a historic, exemplary and proud achievement in the field of Urdu literature.
Professor Anjum also authored several monographs including Muhammad Ali Johar, Syed Ehtisham Hussain and Syed Muhammad Hasnain for Sahitya Academy, Delhi, Altaf Hussain Hali for Urdu Academy, Delhi, West Bengal Urdu Academy, Mirza Ghalib for Kolkata and Urdu Directorate. The Kalam Hydari monograph for Patna is particularly noteworthy. Several books translated by him have also been published. He also wrote a literary column on non-Muslim Urdu poets and writers for the daily ‘Inqlab’, Delhi, for about two and a half years.
