‘Quran in Embroidery’ a hand crafted phenomenon in 604-pages of velvet cloth – The Miracle of two Bengaluru sisters – Bibi Tabassum and Suraiya Quraishi

This is a miracle. An awe-inspiring phenomenon took place in this city a few days back, as two sisters- Bibi Tabassum and Suraiya Quraishi- embroidered the sacred Quran onto 604 pages of plush velvet cloth.

Showing excellent craftsmanship, they used needles and threads to meticulously prepare an embroidered holy Quran. This embroidered Quran, prepared under the watchful guidance of an Alim-e-deen (religious scholar), is not only easily legible but also heavenly captivating.

Bibi Tabassum, the younger of the two sisters, holds a great fondness for doing embroidery ever since she was a child. In the beginning, she used to embroider only small verses of the Quran, but one day, an idea graced Bibi Tabassum’s mind – to intricately embroider the entire holy Quran. This took her on a laborious journey, one fueled by love and devotion.

Expressing extreme gratitude to Allah for giving them the opportunity to prepare this embroidered Quran, Bibi Tabassum says that she aspires to gift this embroidered holy Quran to a library in the holy city of Madina.

Venturing on this embroidery voyage of the Quranic verses along with her elder sister Suraiya Quraishi, Bibi Tabassum started with the first inaugural Surah of the Quran i.e. Surah Al-Fatiha, and continued diligently. The last surah- Surah An-Nas marked the culmination of their hard labour.

This embroidered holy Quran is divided into five volumes, and each volume consisting of six chapters. It went through a meticulous binding process by the skilled hands of its creators.

Initially, in the detailed process of embroidery, Bibi Tabassum used to inscribe the verses of the Quran with a pencil on the velvet cloth, followed by both the sisters intricately weaving threads along those sacred lines.

Carrying on the demands of daily life, both sisters, driven by unwavering dedication, used to finish their household chores and then engage in the embroidery work of the holy Quran.

To ensure the utmost accuracy of the embroidered work, a learned religious scholar closely scrutinized each verse upon the completion of a page. Bibi Tabassum says, ‘After completing every page of the embroidered holy Quran, we would show that to our scholar and do any correction if required.”

In the aftermath of this big achievement, family members are thoroughly elated for the two sisters. They say that the two sisters have utilized their time for a very noble endeavour. Extending heartfelt gratitude, they thank Allah for the manifestation of this lovely artwork, which stands as a testament to the beautiful blending of devotion and artistry.

‘Green Valley’ students glitter once again with 100% First Classes

ICSE EXAMS 2018 

Udupi : 

Green Valley National School and PU College, Shiroor has scored 100% result for the 11th consecutive year in ICSE Grade X Exams with an outstanding performance taking the school performance to a higher level.

Out of 63 students all the students have registered good results 100% pass and first class in all subjects. 20 students have secured High Distinction and 43 students have secured High first Classes.

MARIAM INAYATULLAH is a topper scoring 472 (94.4%). SOHAIL AHAMED ANWAR scored 470 (94%) and come second. MOHAMMED SAOUD secured the third position with 466 (93.2%).

While continuing the tradition of excellence and 100% results, students have secured an all-time record in high first class.

List of II PU toppers in Yadgir district released

Yadgir, KARNATAKA:

As the results of II PU were announced, the department has released the list of students who became the toppers in the district.

In arts stream, Hanumanth, Swami Vivekananda PU College in Gurmitkal, secured 577 marks with 96.17%, Maheboob Shaikh Sahir from commerce stream, who is studying in Don Bosco PU College Yadgir, secured 560 marks with 93.33%, while Prajna B.M. from science stream, who is studying in Sairam PU College Shahapur, has secured 588 marks with 98%.

The other toppers in arts stream are: Amaresh secured 575 marks (95.83%), Chaitanya 575 marks (95.83%), Arunkumar 569 marks (94.83%), and Nagamma 569 marks (94.83%).

In commerce stream: Ishwarya secured 547 marks (91.16%) and Nagaraj secured 546 marks (91%).

In science stream: Abhishek secured 588 marks (98%), Savitri 580 marks (96.66%), Akash 580 marks (96.66%), Shruti secured 580 (96.66%), and Surendra secured 577 marks (96.16%), respectively.

First of its kind, 3-day multilingual calligraphy exhibition, seminar in B’luru from March 10

A three-day multilingual calligraphy exhibition and seminar named Miraj will be held in Bangalore from March 10 to 12, 2023.

The event will be held at Falcon’s Den, Prestige Falcon Towers, Brunton Road here in the city.

The exhibition and seminar will be first of its kind in Bengaluru, Syed Beary, Chairman of Bearys Group said in a press conference at the Press Club on Wednesday.

The event sponsored by Bearys Group is being organised by Institute of Indo Islamic Art and Culture ( IIIAC), Syed Beary who is also the Chairman and Managing Trustee of IIIAC added.

“More than 50 artists and experts from across the world will take part in this unique event. Calligraphy is a special art. It helps in maintaining balance between your mind, body and your thoughts,” he further added.

“Calligraphy finds its origin in Arabic. But Chinese and Japanese modern calligraphy are also significantly beautiful and pleasing to eyes. Even Indian regional languages have now adopted calligraphy and artists are exhibiting their skills and talents in their respective regional languages,” Syed Beary further stated.

Speaking about the exhibition, he said experts and artists from more than 10 countries including Turkey, Japan, Sudan, and Middle-East will take part in the event. Calligraphy experts in Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and other regional languages will also be a part of the event.

“Seminars, Talks, and discussions on various aspects of calligraphy will also be held during this first of its kind three-day event,” he said.

Institute of Indo Islamic Art and Culture’s Principal Muqtar Ahmed  also spoke at the press conference and said the exhibition will be inaugurated on March 10 at 10:30 am by Irfan Razack, Chairman and Managing Director of Prestige Group, Bangalore. The seminar will be inaugurated later at 3 pm by Maulana Mufti Sageer Ahmed, Ameer-e-Shariyat, Karnataka, snf Principal & Shaikul Hadees, Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashad.

Zia Ulla Sharief, Chairman India Builders Corporation, Bangalore, Irfan Razack, Chairman, MD Prestige Group Bangalore, Shabeena Sultana, Consul of the Republic of Tunisia, Bangalore and Pusphamala N, Artist, Sculptor, Writer and Curator will be guests of honor during the inaugural event that will be presided over by Syed Mohamed Beary, Muqtar Ahmed said.

He also spoke about how expert calligraphers of multiple languages will grace the event and share their thoughts and experiences with the participants.

Efdaluddin Kilic, Turkey, Narjes Noureddine, UAE, Dr. Abdullah Fattini, KSA, Tagalsir Hasan, Sudan, Mohsin Ghareeb, Bahrain, Farid Abdur Rahim, Kuwait, Dr. Ali Rabbani, Iran, Yuko Takaji, Japan, Achyut Palav, Marathi, Poosapati Raju, Telugu, Narayana Bhattathiri, Malayalam, Suresh Waghmore, Kannada, Vinoth Kumar, Tamil, Nikheel Aphale, Hindi & Devanagari, Salva Rasool, Urdu are some of the experts who will hold talks on Calligraphy on the first day of the event.

The exhibition will remain open from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm on three days of the event.

Karnataka State shines in ’60th National Roller Skating Championships 2022 ′ -Winning 11 Medals – 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze.

KARNATAKA :

The 60th National Roller Skating Championships 2022-23 was held at Bengaluru from December 11 to 22.

10 skaters from Hi-Flyers Skating Club had qualified for the Nationals. 4 skaters won 6 Golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronze.

In Individual Events :

Arpita Nishanth Shet gets 1 Gold and 1 Silver in Rink 500+D and Road 1 lap.


Muhammad Shamil Arshad gets 1 Gold and 1 Silver in Rink 500+D and Road 1 lap.


Dashiel Amanda Concessao gets 2 Bronzes in Dual TT and 500+D.


Moksha A Suvarna gets a Bronze in Road 1 lap..

In group events :

Shamil and Arpita grab the Gold in junior Mixed Relay.

Arpita and Dashiel also grab the Gold in the junior Girls Relay

These skaters were trained by coaches Mohandas K, Jayaraj and Ramanand of Hi-Flyers Skating Club.

Udupi Fire Service Officer Meer Mohammed Ghouse receives President’s Medal for Meritorious Service

Udupi, KARNATAKA:

Meer Mohammed Ghouse, assistant fire station officer, Udupi received the President’s medal for his meritorious service from Karnataka state governor Thawar Chand Gehlot at the Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru on November 7.

Ghouse had joined the fire service in 1992.

He had received promotions during his service period of the last 30 years and is serving as an assistant station officer at present.

The department has presented cash prizes to him 33 times and two certificates of excellence.

He was felicitated with the chief minister’s gold medal in 2012.

Eleven years ago, Mohammed Adil bid adieu to his 20-year-old gemstone business and turned to his interest in growing tropical fruit plants full-time. The decision helped him reap rich dividends as now his turnover by selling exotic saplings in Bengaluru is over Rs 1 crore annually.

The 52-year-old Devanahalli farmer grows Avocados, Macadamia nuts, Rambutan, Bush Orange, Water Apple, Star Fruit and Lychee Thai Guava among others in his one-acre nursery.

“I had 4 acres of land where I had many Jamun trees. But, since the yield was less, I searched for exotic fruit trees and my journey as a farmer began 11 years ago. I converted one acre into a nursery where I grew all the mother saplings. In Avocado alone, I have 13 types with four types named after Bengaluru nursery,” said Adil.

In the last five years, he has sold over lakh Avocado saplings. “This tropical fruit is easy to grow with zero maintenance and the yield is just in three years. All one has to do is ensure good care for the first two years,”  said Adil.

“The Yenepoya organization, which backs grief-stricken people and is in the forefront of humanitarian service, is model to all. Organ donation is very important is present times as many are dying due to organ failure. All have to think about organ donation,” opined Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.

The bishop was speaking after inaugurating the Yenepoya Nephro Urology organization under the aegis of Nephrology, Urology, Renal transplant and Robotic surgery departments of Deralakatte Yenepoya Medical College.

The bishop further said, “Yenepoya organization has recently given honorary doctorate to president of Gulbarga University recognising his humanitarian service. This is really appreciable. There is a possibility of giving life to five people from a person who is brain dead. Many make their death a fruitful one. We have to learn a lot from the people who are dying. Greek believed the whole world as one life. It is important to save lives.”

Prof Dr Ravindra Prabhu of Nephrology department, KMC Manipal said, “There was time when anyone with kidney ailment was going to die for sure. Very few were coming to hospital with kidney disease. Many have died due to heart attack because of psychological pressure of kidney ailment. Others were not even taking any medicine. Now many are getting cured due to innovative technology. Let the Nephro Urology department which has begun in Yenepoya, give good training to students.”

Vice chancellor of Yenepoya University Dr M Vijayakumar said, “The corporate zone is ruled by the renal department treatment method. The organ donation when one is alive shows the highest form of humanitarian values.”

Seven people who donated kidney to relatives were felicitated on the occasion. Farhad Yenepoya, Associate vice chancellor of Yenepoya deemed university, Dr Gangadhar Somayaji, registrar, Dr M S Moosabba, dean of Yenepoya Medical College, Dr Prakash R M Saldanha, medical superintendent of Yenepoya medical college were the chief guests.

Senior urologist of Yenepoya Speciality Hospital Dr Ashok Pandit, head of Nephrology department of Yenepoya Dr Santhosh Pai gave details of the felicitated people.

Dr Altaf Khan welcomed the gathering. Dr Mujib Ur Rehman did the introduction. Dr Nishchith D’Souza proposed a vote of thanks.

Hero Dirt Biking Challenge in Mangaluru sees enthusiastic participation

Benjanapadavu (Mangaluru), KARNATAKA :

More than 60 motorcycle enthusiasts participated in the Hero Dirt Biking Challenge (HDBC) at Benjanapadavu near Mangaluru, held on September 24-25, 2022.

Hero MotoCorp introduced the Hero Dirt Biking Challenge (HDBC) to serve as a platform for aspiring riders and enthusiasts to showcase their talent.

More than 60 passionate motorcycle enthusiasts from Mangaluru, Goa, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga participated in the Hero Dirt Biking Challenge (HDBC) held on September 24 and 25 at Benjanapadavu near Mangaluru while five were selected for the next round.

Hero MotoCorp introduced the HDBC to serve as a platform for aspiring riders and enthusiasts to showcase their talent. The country’s best amateur off-road riders are chosen from 45 cities. Hero MotoCorp will be awarding a Hero Xpulse 200 4V motorcycle and sponsorship contracts worth ₹20 lakh to the winner and the two runners-up. State 3 of the event was held at Kodman Motopark in Benjanapadavu.

The HDBC event was hosted by Shoeb Khan from Mysuru, a certified FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) official and a professional rally racer.

The two-day action packed event included a variety of challenges that the riders had to face. Participants had to go through jumps, a sidewall, whoops and finally park at the stop box with the fastest time, said a release.

Five winners will participate in the next round to be held in Bengaluru. Asad Khan from Chikkamagaluru won the first place while Ishan Chandra from Mangaluru won the second, Samson from Mysuru came third, Suhail Ahmed from Mangaluru the fourth and Safwan Hussain from Mangaluru came in fifth position.

The top 100 chosen riders Nationwide will attend a 5-day regional boot camp following the preliminary rounds.

Ross Branch and Joachim Rodriguez, from the rally team of Hero Motosports, will work with the best competitors and offer their advice. The final event of the boot camp will be a race, and the winners will advance to the finals.

Kodman Motopark proprietor Christon D’souza said, “I was truly contented seeing the number of participants at Kodman. This is a great initiative taken by Hero MotoCorp to give opportunity to the motoenthusiasts.”

KodmanMotopark has an off-road track for bikes and 4 wheelers where motorsport enthusiasts can train and hone their off-roading skills.
